Those hoping to see HBO content on Netflix may be in for a little bit of a wait, but those sporting an iPhone or iPad will likely have better luck. As of now it looks like making a deal with Netflix is not something that is on the radar with HBO, that is according to HBO co-president Eric Kessler who was recently quoted as saying that “there is value in exclusivity” and how people “are willing to pay a premium for high quality, exclusive content.” Needless to say that makes it look like HBO is not going to be offering any of their content and losing that exclusivity.
There is a bit of good news for Apple users though, in specific, iPad users. In this case you may be watching HBO content on your device within six months time. The current plan is calling for a service called HBO Go, where subscribers will get free access on mobile devices including the iPad. So far we are still awaiting more details on the HBO Go service, but it was noted that it will be offering up to 800 hours of content including movies and television shows.
Personally I would still prefer the Netflix option, but then again, I still find my ways to watch those HBO television series without becoming a regular subscriber. And no, my method does not involve Bittorrent.
