Many people forget about Google’s other Operating System — Chrome. In fact, it looks like Google will launch its own tablet to rival the iPad by Black Friday of this year and it will operate on Chrome OS. The fact that it runs Chrome OS implies it will be used as a browser only device, but hey, that’s exactly what some people would find perfect.
The interesting prospect about the tablet is its pricing, which DownloadSquad’s source seems to think might be available for free with a contract on Verizon. With tablet’s costing money up front and then requiring a contract, it would be interesting to see how the Chrome OS tablet fares as a free device. In addition, the device is going to be built by HTC and will feature 2GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard memory, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, webcam, 3G connectivity, NVidia Tegra 2 processor, and a display with a resolution of 1280×720.
As of now, the rumored release date is November 26, 2010, which is widely recognized as Black Friday here in the United States. It will be interesting to see what kind of rumors and leaks surface between now and then, because we are still waiting on a blurry or official image to go along with the tablet.
