HTC Desire

A little over two weeks ago, we reported that U.S. Cellular would begin to sell its second Android smartphone — the HTC Desire — on August 27. Now that today is August 27, U.S. Cellular has officially began selling the high-end Android device. The HTC Desire is available for all U.S. Cellular customers for $199.95 on a two year contract following a $230 instant discount for the two year contract and an additional $70 MIR.

Here’s a quick recap of the Desire’s specs: 3.7 inch touch screen display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5MP camera with flash, 8GB memory included, and runs Android 2.1. In case you are not interested in the HTC Desire, U.S. Cellular also offers the Samsung Acclaim as its only other Android device. U.S. Cellular does, however, have plans to launch its own variant of the Galaxy S device starting in October.
