As we have recently seen, the App Store approval process has changed and that meant the return of the Google Voice apps. Of course, that meant the availability of the once banned GV Mobile + as well as the entry of newcomer GV Connect. But what about an official app from Google? Well, word is that the official Google Voice app has already been approved and is going to show itself in the App Store soon.

According to TechCrunch; they have received “word that the official Google Voice application is on its way to the iPhone in the next few weeks. In fact, we’ve heard from a source close to Google that it’s already been approved.”

As to what this will be able to offer over and above the other Google Voice apps for the iPhone. Word is that it will include goodies such as push notifications for incoming messages, both in terms of SMS and also voicemail.

Time will tell, but it sounds promising.
