As of late, the official release of a smartphone with the carrier is nice to see, however the release with third party retailer Wirefly is generally better news. Well, better news for those who can wait a few days in order to spend much less. That said, this has happened recently with the Droid 2 Global which has been available with Verizon Wireless for $199.99 which comes AFTER a $100 mail-in-rebate. And as of now that same handset is available with Wirefly for $79.99 with no mail-in-rebates — just a flat $79.99. Furthermore, Wirefly is also throwing in free FedEx shipping. Of course, the catch with the Wirefly pricing is that the lowest price is sometimes only available for new customers and such is the case with the Droid 2 Global. The price for those looking to renew/upgrade is $119.99. Otherwise if you have an existing account and are simply looking to add on a new line of service the price remains at $99.99. All said and done, both prices are still much lower than direct with Verizon.
