Making an appearance at the FCC is a new smartphone bearing the Pantech markings – the Pantech P8000. Based on the document filed, it seems that the Pantech P8000 maybe heading towards AT&T’s way. Baring any official announcement from the phone’s maker for this, the Pantech P8000 will most likely support GSM/EDGE 850/1900 and WCDMA 850/1900 which makes it more certain that it will be an AT&T phone.
Aside from this, the FCC document also revealed that the Pantech P8000 both has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios. Unfortunately, unlike other devices that reached the FCC, Pantech forgot to include an image of the device. What we have is a rendering of the device illustrating that it will be a bar-style phone with camera on its back.
As for the phone’s OS, we’re pretty sure it will be running perhaps Android 2.1 or 2.2 at the least. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group recently approved this phone and described it as a “Pantech Android Smart Phone.” Unfortunately, the FCC documents submitted did not confirm nor deny this. Still, we’ll place our bet on the possibility that this will be another Android phone for AT&T.
