The Motorola DROID X has been the Verizon Wireless flagship smartphone for quite some time now, but it is going to be dethroned in Q2 of 2011 when Motorola’s latest DROID smartphone launches, the DROID BIONIC.
Earlier today at CES 2011, Motorola announced the DROID BIONIC, an Android smartphone featuring Android 2.2, 4.3 inch touch screen qHD display, 512MB of RAM, dual-core 1GHz processor, 8MP rear facing camera, VGA front facing camera, Bluetooth, WiFi, LTE connectivity, HDMI output with mirror mode in 1080p, and several productivity tools such as Quickoffice. The DROID BIONIC is one of the few DROID smartphones to not be heavily rumored before its launch, both parties did a good job of keeping this big guy under wraps.
The only aspect of the Android powerhouse I don’t seem to like is the choice of name — BIONIC just doesn’t sit well with me. Hopefully we will learn soon enough the last important features of the DROID BIONIC — pricing and availability.
