Archos 48

Archos has just launched a new Android tablet that will probably get a mix of reactions from most of us. The said tablet dubbed Archos 48 is not only small as compared to the usual 7 to 10 inch display of most tablets that were announced recently but it also comes with a relatively cheaper price – $299. Interestingly, we can’t say that the Archos 48 is underpowered hence the lesser price because it definitely packs in some nice specs inside.

For one, the Archos 48 is loaded with a 500GB hard drive, an 800 MHZ ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 256MB RAM, and a 4.8-inch 800×480 pixel resistive touchscreen display. One thing that you may really not like about the Archos 48 is the fact that it runs only Android 1.6 aka Donut. It doesn’t have the Android Market preloaded as well. But, it’s not really a deal breaker since you can possibly find a way to have some Android apps and the Android Market running on this tablet via the unofficial route. The Archose 48 can also playback 720p video and has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity features.

So, who’s getting the Archos 48?
