Verizon iPhone gets town down by iFixIt, internals show dual-mode CDMA/GSM Qualcomm chip

As we have come to expect, a new device is released and then it is quickly torn apart by the crew over at iFixIt. And as you most likely guessed, the Verizon iPhone has become their latest target. That said, while these are always interesting to see, especially for those who like to see the inner guts and are afraid to take our own gadgets apart, this one did reveal something interesting in terms of the chipset. The chip is a Qualcomm MDM6600 which some may recognize as the one that is in the Droid Pro. Or more interesting, it supports CDMA and GSM.

This is the same chipset as the Droid Pro world phone. It supports both GSM and CDMA—which means that Apple could have supported GSM!

But before anyone gets super upset about the potential of this being a world phone, keep in mind that there is no SIM card slot. That said, hit the ‘via’ link below and check out the rest of the images.
