Sony Ericsson Xperia Play may launch with multiple US carriers

At Mobile World Congress 2011, Sony Ericsson announced that its upcoming Android smartphone, the Xperia Play, would launch with Verizon Wireless in the United States. At the time, it wasn’t known whether Verizon Wireless would be the exclusive carrier of this innovative smartphone, but Jan Uddenfeldt, Sony Ericsson CTO, offers a differing perspective.
According to AndroidGuys, Uddenfeldt envisions the Xperia Play “ultimately [being] available on multiple carriers’ networks,” but did not announce any possible suitors or time frames. Samsung’s strategy of having the Galaxy S available on every major carrier in the U.S. definitely paid off, and it would make sense for Sony Ericsson to push to get the Xperia Play on as many carriers as possible.
