Asus Eee Pad Transformer

Asus today confirmed when two of it’s latest tablets, the Eee Pad Transformer and Eee Slate EP121 will be available, and how much they will cost. Well, they announced pricing and availability for the UK at least. We still don’t when either will be available in the US, or how much they will cost.

First up is the Asus Eee Pad Transformer. This is Asus’ shot at the Android tablet market, It’s a 10.1-inch Honeycomb tablet with an optional keyboard dock. The Transformer will be released on April 6 in two models, 16GB and 32GB. The 16GB model will run you £379 (~$608), while the 32GB model will cost £429 (~$688). If you really need a physical keyboard, or just want an extra 16 hours of battery life it will cost you £429 for the 16GB model. Not sure how much the 32GB model would cost with the option keyboard, though it stands to reason it would be just an extra £50. Both versions are WiFi only at the moment, with a 3G model coming soon.

The Eee Slate EP121 is Asus’ Windows 7 tablet. It comes complete with an active digitizer and stylus. It’s powered by an Intel Core i5, and has 64GB of SSD storage. This tablet will land on April 10, though you can pre-order it through Amazon UK right now. It sells for £999 (~$1,602), and will be exclusive to Amazon UK until May 1.

Let’s hope Asus has US release dates for at least the Transformer soon. It could be an interesting Honeycomb tablet. The optional keyboard is intriguing, if a bit unnecessary.
