Now this is wrong. This is really, really wrong. The BlackBerry PlayBook was just starting to propagate in the industry and yet it is already getting its own Facebook App. How could this be Facebook people? I’ve had two versions of the iPad already, and still no sign of the official Facebook app. How come? Sorry about that folks; I just can’t help it. I’ve downloaded several Facebook third-party apps already and yet I’m still waiting for the official Facebook for iPad to come out. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in this.
As for you lucky BlackBerry PlayBook owners, May is going to be your month as Research In Motion is releasing the official Facebook App for the PlayBook this month. As to when exactly, we don’t know just yet. In the meantime, here are what you should expect from the upcoming official Facebook app for PlayBook:
- View and add friends – the Facebook app for PlayBook will let you interact with friends as well as quickly find them by scanning the new grid view of the profile pictures. It will also let you add new friends and manage new friend requests, browse profiles, photos, videos as well as interact with your Friends via their Facebook Walls
- Seamless Photo and Video Viewing – The app lets you upload photos from your PlayBook Picture Library to your Facebook Wall and also lets you tag friends in photos, view comments, tags and likes. Additionally, you can also plug your PlayBook to your HDTV to view photos in high-res and bigger screen display
- Facebook Chat – featuring notifications of new chat messages, chat simultaneously as you browse friends’ profiles, their pictures or their status.
- News Feed – The app lets you browse highlights including photo uploads and status updates of your Facebook Friends’ content. You can also post status updates as well as upload photo
The official Facebook App for PlayBook will be released in the BlackBerry App World this month.
