Research in Motion has updated Facebook for BlackBerry v2.0 anew and it is now available for BlackBerry Beta Zone members. Highlights of the updated feature is the app’s support for BlackBerry Device Software v5.0. Aside from this the updated version also has several new features as well as performance enhancements that improve the functionality of the app in beta. New to the app is the visual cue which tells you when your friend “is typing a message.” You can now also filter your Online Contacts to quickly find a specific friend and then start a Chat message.
The app also now lets you view Mutual Friends and Friends List from the info tab on the Profiles option. This feature allows you to discover which friends you have in common with another app user. It also lets you view a user’s Friends List from their Profile if those friends have permitted this in their profile settings. Additionally, the app is also now more integrated with native BlackBerry smartphone apps. It will now allow you to click on PINs, phone numbers and email addresses that are display on your friends’ Wall posts, messages as well as do various actions such as place a call or save the information to your BlackBerry Contacts app. Finally, the update also brings in several performance enhancements to the app. These include – improvement in Facebook Chat connection, disappearnce of the cursor while scrolling through news feed, delivery notifications of consistent chat message, and improvement in Online Contacts list loading time.
Facebook for BlackBerry v2.0 is available now in beta. To get the update, you must be a member of the BlackBerry Beta Zone.
