Twitter updates mobile web app, now powered by HTML5

Twitter has officially updated their mobile web app, which is now powered by HTML5. The new version is starting to come available today and was “built from the ground up for smartphones and tablets.” All in all, the new mobile version of Twitter will look rather familiar to those who have been using the dedicated Twitter app. Of course, there are some differences such as how the ‘button’ bar is across the top as opposed to the bottom. But otherwise, you have easy access to your stream as well as mentions, messages, search and profile. And lastly, if you are using a tablet or smartphone and not yet seeing the updated Twitter web app — rest assured that it is coming. According to Twitter, the web app was released today for a “small percentage of users on iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android smartphones” with “additional folks with those devices in the coming weeks.”
