Philips Wireless HD Net Connect

Jealous of all your friends with WiDi in their laptops? Does your laptop have an HDMI port? If you answered yes to both of those questions Philips may have the answer for you with the Wireless HD Net Connect.

The Philips Wireless HD Net Connect will bring wireless display to any laptop or computer that has an HDMI port and and empty USB port. All you have to do is plug the adapter into your machine’s HDMI port, and another wire into a USB port for power. Then you connect the receiver to the HDMI port on your HDTV (and a wall outlet for power), and you’re all set. With the Wireless HD Net Connect you’ll be able to stream full 1080p video right to your TV from your laptop.

Philips claims there’s no lag in the Wireless HD Connect, and there certainly didn’t seem to be any in the demo that was shown. It might even be good enough to game using your TV with the device. At a price of $299 the system is a bit expensive, though. It could be worth it if you have the money and don’t want to bother with wires everywhere. Being untethered can be quite costly, it seems.
