Skype for Android App

Today, Skype announced that certain Android users will be able to enjoy video chatting through Skype with their friends and family. If you own an Android smartphone running Android 2.3 and it features a front facing camera, you’ll be able to take advantage of the newly redesigned Skype for Android app. The very select list includes the HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro, and the Google Nexus S. Video chats through Skype for Android can be conducted through 3G or WiFi.

Here is a quick overview of what you can do with video chat in the Skype app:

  • Make and receive free Skype one-to-one video calls to other Skype users on the iPhone, Mac, Windows PCs, other Android phones and even TVs
  • Make great value calls to landlines and mobiles around the world
  • Send SMS messages to friends and family anywhere in the world from your Android device

Lastly, the redesign of the Skype for Android app essentially makes it more user-friendly and intuitive. Navigation through your contacts, Skype profile, dial pad, balance of credit card, and video call menu is supposed to be much easier with the updated app. Feel free to check out the promotional video below.
