Just a few days back we learned that Spotify is officially coming to the US. And just to clarify, its not as if we did not all know that in the past, however Spotify offered the news on their website, which is more than we have seen in the past. That being said, while Spotify is coming, we still have no idea when it will arrive or how much it will cost once it comes available. Enter the rumor mill. The latest in this regard has suggested that Spotify could begin streaming for US users as early as next week and that it will come with monthly price points of $4.99 and $9.99.
As for the details behind the release timeframe, those come by way of AllThingsD who are reporting that the launch will come next week “because that’s what Spotify reps have been telling U.S. label executives.” In terms of the price, the $4.99 will be for unlimited music on the web and the $9.99 will be for unlimited music on the web as well as mobile access. With that, a Spotify rep did tell TechCrunch that “no details are set for the pricing or details of our US service yet.” Of course, the $4.99 and $9.99 price points should be it considering other similar services are already there. Well, that is unless Spotify plans to come in less expensive and undercut the competition.
