Facebook Messenger

You no longer have to log in to the official Facebook application to access the messaging features. Today, Facebook released Facebook Messenger for iOS and Android. Facebook Messenger is a separate application that only handles messages. Chat messages, inbox messages, emails and text messages will be located in one place.

The Facebook Messenger app also allows users to add their locations and photos into messages. The location feature is meant to coordinate multiple people in various locations. Even without adding locations, users can still send a single message to multiple recipients.

Facebook Messenger was created in part by Beluga, a company that Facebook recently acquired.
