Vodafone releases the Facebook-friendly 555 mobile phone

Those in the UK who are looking for a Facebook oriented phone may want to check out the latest offering from Vodafone. Though, unlike some of the other recently announced Facebook-friendly smartphones, this latest is a bit more basic. The handset is the Vodafone 555 and it features a dedicated Facebook button. The Vodafone 555 comes priced at £62.50, which is contract free. In other words, you buy the phone and then buy your plan. And while low priced, the handset comes with a rather basic set of specs. Those who make the purchase can expect to get a handset with a 2.4 inch non-touchscreen display, hardware QWERTY keyboard and a 2 megapixel camera with flash and zoom. Otherwise, the Vodafone 555 will come pre-loaded with Facebook integration as well as an FM Radio and Opera Mini. All said and done, the 555 looks like a rather decent pre-paid offering but it does come with a catch in terms of data speeds — this handset is not 4G, its not even 3G or Wi-Fi capable — instead you can expect to see EDGE speeds.
