Google launches Magnifier, a music discovery site to accompany Google Music

Google seems to have recently launched a new blog. The site is called Magnifier and it is meant to accompany the (still in beta) Google Music service. Magnifier is described as being a “music discovery site that will keep your collection growing.” The site will highlight new artists with interviews and live videos as well as offer free music downloads. Some of the highlights that Google is touting include the ability to “add any or all of the songs to your Music Beta library instantly” and be able to do so for free. And as to how the artists are chosen to be featured on Magnifier, that was noted as being “because someone on our [the Google] team thinks they’re pretty great.” With that, the first Spotlight Featured artist is called My Morning Jacket and the introduction comes with a video interview, brief bio of the band and two free tracks that can be downloaded and added to your Google Music account with the simple click of the “add free music” button.
