Sony hasn’t been given the satisfaction of announcing the release date for its S1 tablet. Engadget has learned the tablet will be officially called the Sony Tablet S and may be priced at $599. The Sony Tablet S is expected to arrive in stores during the first couple weeks of September. A solid release date is still unknown.
The Sony Tablet S is one of two Sony tablets that are expected to be released this year. The Sony Tablet S is the 9.4-inch model as opposed to the dual-screen S2 tablet.
Out of the box, the Sony Tablet S will have Android 3.1 installed (upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich) and front and rear cameras (3 megapixels and 5 megapixels respectively). The tablet can also support SD memory cards up to 2GB and SDHC memory cards up to 32GB. There will also be accessories such as a wireless keyboard and a USB adapter.
Since we’re apparently so close to release, expect Sony to makes its official announcement soon.
