Sprint’s announcement of its Samsung Galaxy S II device was spoiled a little earlier today. The phone will be known as the (big breath) Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch. Sprint has the advantage of the being the first carrier in the United States to get a Galaxy S II phone. It will be available on September 16 for $199 on contract.
Pre-orders for the Epic 4G Touch are being accepted right now at Sprint stores if they also purchase a $50 Sprint gift card. Sprint will then put their names on a wait list before they are allowed to completely buy the phone. An appointment will need to be set up to complete the purchase.
Unlike T-Mobile, Sprint provided details about the phone’s specifications. Expect to get the 4.52-inch SUPER AMOLED Plus display with a 1.2Ghz dual-core Samsung Exynos processor and Android 2.3. The front camera has a resolution of two megapixels and the rear camera is eight megapixels that’s capable of 1080p HD resolution.
