Facebook iPhone app update

The Facebook iPhone app (also works with iPod Touch) has just been updated, bringing the app’s version to version 3.5. Unfortunately for those who have been waiting for so long now, support for the iPad is still not included in this update. But still, the update is quite significant especially the new feature which allows you to tag friends whenever you post updates to your wall using your iPhone or iPod Touch. The app also improved privacy controls on sharing tools specifically allowing you to use the same privacy settings that you used on the Facebook website. The updated Facebook app also now allows you to share external links from a web view and the Profile and Group Wall pages were likewise redesigned.

Included in the update are the usual round of bug fixes and improvements which include the following:

  • Improved Notifications speed
  • Fixed a number of Chat bugs
  • Made it easier to select filters in News Feed
  • Fixed a bug with the Notifications bar disappearing
  • Fixed a number of Photos bugs
  • Improved performance and stability overall

The Facebook app for iPhone and iPod Touch is available now as a free download from the App Store. Incidentally, if you are using iOS 5 beta 7 on your iPhone, you might want to skip this update since the app might not run. I tried opening the app after installing the update but unfortunately the app is not loading properly.
