Spotify’s partnership with Facebook is in full effect. One of the benefits of jumping on Spotify now is the six months of free service new members are getting. This opportunity comes with a catch. In order to become a Spotify user these days you must have a Facebook account.
Those who jumped on the Spotify boat before the Facebook integration can still keep the two services separate. They can connect and disconnect from Facebook at will.
Spotify has made Facebook a requirement as part of its efforts to build a larger network of connected users. Every time a friend listens to a song on Spotify, that information is displayed in the news ticker. Spotify’s hope is that millions of Facebook users will eventually become paid Spotify users after seeing how many of their friends are using the service.
Spotify also believes it has made signing up quick and easy by letting users use their existing Facebook credentials.
