Today marks the highly anticipated reveal of the next iPhone. Over the last few months, we’ve learned little of device but we know that Verizon, AT&T and Sprint are going to be carrying the iPhone. Poor T-Mobile is left out of the party and will probably suffer a loss in contract customers as a result. T-Mobile has come up with a game plan to reduce the negative effect the iPhone will have on its business. T-Mobile is relying on the power of words and persuasion to convince customers to pick one of its Android phones instead of giving in to the Apple way of life.

A leaked document sent to Tmo News called “T-Mobile Android Smartphones vs. iPhone 5″ prepares its sales associates for Apple’s upcoming onslaught. In the document, T-Mobile tells its associates the iPhone 5 is coming and the price of previous iPhone models will likely drop. T-Mobile expects customers to come into its stores and question whether they should get an iPhone instead of a T-Mobile Android smartphone. Therefore, it’s come up with a “proactive program” to address customer concerns.

When talking to customers, T-Mobile representatives should “include many details about T-Mobile Android phones and why our quality 4G nationwide network is a smarter choice for many customers. Use every opportunity to engage the customer, ask lifestyle questions and transition the conversation into ‘Why T-Mobile.’”

So that’s T-Mobile’s big plan to take on the iPhone. Nevermind having some kind of huge sale (without rebates) to get people through the door. T-Mobile is going to wait until everyone knows about the new iPhone then address the issue on a customer by customer basis. We’ll see how well that works out for them.
