Hotmail app now available for Android

We are not entirely certain how many in the Gadgetell audience actually still use Hotmail for your email needs but that being said, it looks like Microsoft has released an Android app — just in case. The Hotmail for Android app arrives with a (seemingly fitting) version number of and as a 6.1M file download. Perhaps more important than what seems like a random string of numbers that make up the version number though, the Hotmail app requires Android 2.1 (up to 2.3.3) for use. In terms of features, well, it is Hotmail on your Android smartphone and it includes the following goodies;

  • With push email get messages on your phone without delay
  • Synced calendar and contacts
  • View your folders in Hotmail, including sub folders
  • Send pictures from your phone using Hotmail
  • Supports multiple Hotmail accounts
  • Send, receive and view attachments
