Last week was not good for RIM. As the iPhone 4S was building up steam for its release, customers in India. Europe, the Middle East, the United States and Africa were unable to access crucial BlackBerry services. RIM finally fixed everything on October 13, but not before outages that lasted three days in some countries. RIM is apologizing to its BlackBerry users with apologetic words and free apps. Over the next four weeks (starting on October 19), apps that are worth over $100 combined will be free from BlackBerry App World. Customers can pick them up until December 31.
RIM’s enterprise customers are also getting a month of free technical support. If those customers already pay for technical support, RIM will give them an additional free month on their contract.
