Newegg expects the Asus Transformer Prime to launch on December 8th for $499

Newegg is the latest retailer to post a pre-order page for the Asus Transformer Prime Android tablet, but this time, Newegg reveals a launch date of December 8th. December 8th is also the rumored launch date for the Motorola Droid 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Verizon Wireless, but it could also mark the release date of the first NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor tablet.

The Asus Transformer Prime contains a 10.1 inch touch screen display, Android 3.2, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear facing camera, 32GB of onboard storage, 1.2MP front facing camera, an an optional keyboard dock. The Transformer Prime by Asus is also expected to receive an upgrade to Android 4.0 when it becomes available. At this point, Asus still has yet to confirm the launch date for the Transformer Prime, but hopefully Newegg’s date of December 8th is accurate.
