Mophie issues a product recall for the Juice Pack Air for iPod touch (4th generation)

It does not appear to be a good day for external battery/case products. We recently mentioned the recall that was issued by Best Buy for the Rocketfish case for the iPhone 3/3S and now it looks like we have one coming from Mophie. The Mophie recall is dealing with the Juice Pack Air for the 4th generation iPod touch.

“mophie has determined that in a small number of juice pack air™ units (JPAT…) for the iPod touch 4th generation may short-circuit causing the unit to potentially over heat. In extreme conditions, it is possible for the plastic to deform and damage the iPod touch. You should stop using these units immediately.”

In terms of knowing if you have one of the affected models, the recall covers the following model numbers;

• 2010_JPAXT4
• 2011_JPAXT4
• 2012_JPAXT4

And further details state that you could have an affected model if your serial number falls in between: TR113XXXXX-XX – TR120XXXXX-XX

That all being said, if you have (or believe you have) one of the potential problematic Mophie Juice Pack Air battery cases for the iPod touch, then follow the link at the bottom of this post to submit for a replacement. The replacement request can be done by filling out a short form on the Mophie website or by calling a toll-free number.
