Facebook Timeline was first introduced by Mark Zuckerberg back in September at f8, and it’s just now being rolled out to users.
The developer preview of Timeline has run since September 22, with over a million people signing up to use the new profile. Now regular Facebook users will begin to see the new layout as well. It’s starting out as a small group, with Facebook rolling the update out to New Zealand first, with others coming in the near future. Soon everybody on the service will be able to create their own personal life stories via Timeline.
I’ve been using Timeline since the developer beta opened, and I’m a fan of the new layout. It’s much nicer than the previous Facebook profile both in terms of aesthetics and personalization. I like to think that I’m not alone in this idea. Realistically, however, once Timeline becomes the norm you’ll see a lot of your friends complaining about it, begging Facebook to go back to the old version.
