It looks like the Samsung Series 5 ultrabooks have come available for pre-order here in the US. The pre-orders are available by way of J&R and as of now there appears to be a listing for the 13.3 inch and the 14 inch models. The 13.3 inch model is the NP530U3B-A01US and is priced at $899.99. The 14 inch model is the NP530U4B-A01US and is priced at $949.99.
Breaking these models down in terms of specs. Both the 13.3 inch and 14 inch models bring a display resolution of 1366 x 768. In addition, the remaining specs include a 1.6GHz Intel Core i5-2467M processor, Intel HD graphics 3000, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive and the usual suspects including Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, Ethernet, a 4-in-1 memory card reader and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. Additionally, the 14 inch model also includes an optical drive which arrives in the form of a Super Multi DL DVD±R/RW.
That all being said, while having the ability to place a pre-order is nice we still have one important tidbit that remains a mystery — the shipping dates.
