Here’s a quick primer for those who are unfamiliar with what MicroVision does. Its projectors can connect to a mobile device such as an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. The projector can take whatever video is currently playing on your device’s screen, and project it onto any surface. If you have the right lighting conditions, a simple Netflix video can be shared with an entire living room because it’s plastered across the wall. The projection can be as large as 200 inches diagonally.
MicroVision says its new PicoP Gen 2 HD laser display engine can show video and photo projections in 720p HD. MicroVision will be sending its new technology to unspecified device manufacturers in the first quarter of 2012.
We’ll be meeting with MicroVision while we’re at CES, so make sure to stay tuned for our impressions of its products.
