Canon has just announced its latest high-end point-and-shoot digital camera, the Powershot G1 X. Compact and yet powerful are two words that can best describe the Canon G1 X. For on thing, it is said to be the first Canon camera with the largest sensor to date. It features a large 1.5-inch (18.7 x 14 mm), 14.3MP high-sensitivity Canon CMOS sensor that can deliver shallow depth of field, wide dynamic range, ISO range of up to 12800 and light gathering ability that ensures you’re pictures are well-lit even when taken in a low-light condition. Other features of the Canon Powershot G1 X include 4x optical zoom, aperture of f/2.8 to f/16, 14-bit, RAW+JPEF shooting and support for various Canon accessories including Speedlite, Macro Twin Lite and Macro Ring Light flashes. The G1 X can also shoot HDR, and records full HD 1080p video. With those features, it’s not surprising that the Canon Powershot G1 X will be available at a relatively stiff price of $799.99. This digital shooter should hit the US market come February.
