Toshiba’s recent tablet offerings haven’t been the greatest in terms of the overall build, but the company is moving away from the cheap-looking tablets with the new Excite. The Excite is a thin Android tablet with a metal case instead of the Thrive’s plastic.
The entire casing for the Excite is magnesium alloy which looks and feels great in the hand. It feels much sturdier than the Thrive did. To add to the sturdier feel, display has Gorilla Glass so you shouldn’t have to worry about it scratching it too easily. It runs just about as smoothly as you’d expect any Android tablet to run, which is to say it can feel a bit clunky. The 10.1-inch screen looks great, and you can output the display to your TV via the micro HDMI port, but it still runs Android.
