Today Audiobooks.com has launched as a subscription audiobook service. For $24.95 a month you get to listen to a unlimited number of audiobooks from the collection. It’s like Spotify for audiobooks. You can listen to the books either through the Audiobooks.com website or the HTML5 app on your iOS or Android device.
In comparison to Audible, Audiobooks only makes sense for the most voracious audiobook listener. Audible’s plans start at $14.95 a month for one book, or two for $22.95. Two books can last quite a long time depending on the ones you choose. Audible’s price also gives you a wider selection of books: 100,000 compared to Audiobooks.com’s 11,000. So if you want popular series like Stephen King’s Dark Tower or J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter you need to go to Audible. Audibooks.com also lacks in best sellers, holding only three of the top ten New York Times Best Sellers, compared to Audible which has them all.
If it has the books you want, and you listen to more than two audiobooks a month, Audiobooks.com is definitely worth checking out.
