RIM roadmap 3G+ BlackBerry PlayBookDespite poor sales RIM isn’t giving up on the PlayBook. A leaked roadmap shows that the company is planning a “3G+ BlackBerry PlayBook” to be released sometime in the next few months.

The 3G+ PlayBook looks just like the current PlayBook, but with a few improvement. As the name implies, it will hold a 3G radio to connect to 42Mbps HSPA+ networks like T-Mobile’s. The new PlayBook would also have a new 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, as opposed to the 1GHz dual-core chip in the current Wi-Fi-only model. NFC will be built in as well, though there’ no clue as to what it will be useful for.

Unfortunately for RIM, this PlayBook isn’t out right now. The PlayBook 4G was promising, but never actually materialized. Could this actually make people excited about the PlayBook? Maybe.

EDIT: Originally, this article said the new PlayBook would be out next year, it will merely be RIM’s fiscal 2013. The roadmap actually says it would be out by May of 2012. I apologize forte confusion.
