Still remember that hybrid tablet/phone announced by Asus sometime in May 2011? Ever wonder what happened to that unique device? Well, if we’re all lucky, we might finally see the Asus Padfone at the Mobile World Congress 2012 happening in Brazil soon. Asus even sent out a couple of promo videos to demonstrate the Asus Padfone. In case you forgot, the Asus Padfone is not just a tablet nor just a phone – it’s a hybrid of both. As such, it features a 10-inch tablet with a 4.3-inch smartphone that docks with it. The smartphone also powers-up the tablet part of the device. Asus previously described the Padfone as a convergent device that combines a smartphone and a tablet computer into one symbiotic gadget that allows consumers to choose the screen size that best fits their activities and seamlessly share data and 3G internet access. Yes, it’s a pretty unique device and that’s what makes it pretty exciting to behold. And since the Padfone is coming out this late despite being announced during the earlier part of 2011, we will assume that it will be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. But we’ll know for sure during the MWC 2012. In the meantime, enjoy these two promo videos of the Asus Padfone.
