Asahi Soft Drinks is looking to place 1,000 new, Wifi-capable vending machines in five regions across Japan sometime this month. The best part about these little wonders is that users will not require a password to mooch the internet which will be accessible anywhere within a 50m radius of the machine. And although internet access will be uninterrupted, users will only have a 30-minute time frame to surf around — which seems reasonable for a freaking vending machine.
According to the Japan Vending Machine Manufacturers’ Association, the country currently accounts for the world’s highest concentration of vending machines with one for every 24 people. Give it some time, folks. I’m sure we’ll be seeing these guys stateside within a year or two.
