Tweetbot has long been my daily Twitter client for my iPhone, and today Tapbots brought that experience to the iPad.
Tweetbot, if you’re not familiar, is a robot-themed gesture-based Twitter client. It’s been available on the iPhone/iPod touch for a while, and now there’s a version available for the iPad. Tweetbot for iPad brings the same familiar gestures, swiping a tweet right to see conversations, and left to see replies. You’ll also be able to have multiple timelines by creating lists, switching between them with just a few taps.
The new app feels just like the iPhone version, but it also feels less constricting thanks tot he menu bar being moved to the left side of the screen. It doesn’t have the split view of the official Twitter app, but the browser does come with Readability built in, which makes everything much easier to read on the iPad. Somehow Tweetbot for iPad manages to pack in more features than the official app, while being a bit easier to use. It’s a cleaner design as well, but it’s the sort of of design that you’ll either love or hate. Personally, I love it, and I think it’ll make me use my iPad for Twitter more than in the past. Now I just wish Tapbots would make a Mac version, though that seems doubtful.
