Samsung wants to make it absolutely clear that it won’t have any huge surprise announcements at Mobile World Congress this year.

Samsung has confirmed that it won’t have a press conference at MWC this year. Typically Samsung has held press conferences at the Barcelona event, last year the manufacturer first announced the Galaxy S II at the event. This year Samsung will hold it’s big announcement for a later time. There will still be new products at the event, but they won’t be on the caliber of the next Galaxy S line.

Samsung has said that the Galaxy S III will be launched in the first half of 2012, but we’ll have to wait for it. Presumably, Samsung wants to decrease the amount of time between launch and release. The S II was announced six months before coming to the US, and hopefully the upcoming S III will have a shorter wait period.
