We had known this acquisition was coming, and well, it looks like Sony has officially wrapped things up with Sony Ericsson. Bottom line here, Sony has fully acquired Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson’s (“Ericsson”) 50 percent stake in Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB (“Sony Ericsson”) and as a result we will see Sony Mobile Communications. And just to make it clear, Sony is renaming Sony Ericsson as Sony Mobile Communications. Otherwise, according to the details coming from Sony, the renaming will allow them to “further integrate the mobile phone business as a vital element of its electronics business, with the aim of accelerating convergence between Sony’s lineup of network enabled consumer electronics products, including smart phones, tablets, TVs and PCs.”
