Coming as a nice follow up to the recent rumors, LG has officially unveiled the Optimus Vu smartphone. Anyway, while we appreciate this early (and somewhat rare) Sunday morning news, we cannot help but wonder why LG chose to unveil this today when Mobile World Congress is so close. But that aside, there are still some details missing, you know — the pricing and release date. Well, technically speaking, LG did let us know that the Optimus Vu would be available for those in Korea beginning in March. With that out of the way, lets get into what we do know, the specs. Those include a 5-inch IPS display with a 1024 x 768 resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio, 32GB of internal storage and a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and go into the following;
Android 3.2 Gingerbread
1GB RAM
2080 mAh battery
1.3 megapixel front facing camera
8 megapixel rear facing camera with auto-focus and LED flash
DLNA
HDMI
Measurements: 139.6 x 90.4 x 8.5 mm
Additionally, similar to how the Optimus Vu has a screen size close to that of the Galaxy Note, the Vu will also include a stylus. And while Samsung has their own special name, the S Pen, LG also has a name of their own, the “Rubberdium” pen.
“Backed by unparalleled speed and performance from LG’s advanced LTE technology, the Optimus Vu: boasts unmatched productivity. Its unique built-in QuickClip™ hotkey allows users to conveniently capture screenshots and memos with a single push. Jotting notes is also possible with a finger or with the dedicated Rubberdium™ pen. Among many productive apps installed in the Optimus Vu:, the included Polaris Office allows users to open any document, spreadsheet or presentation while on the go.”
