The Sony Xperia U is slated to be announced at Mobile World Congress 2012 in about a week as a mid-range Android smartphone sporting a 3.5 inch touch screen display. In addition to the Xperia U, the Xperia P is expected to be announced as well, but for now, several images of the Xperia U were leaked by a Korean blog.
Based on a few images, we can tell that the Xperia U comes with a removable battery cover, 3.5 inch display, 5MP rear facing camera, and a 1GHz dual-core processor. It is likely to launch with Android 2.3, but may receive an upgrade to ICS in the near future. In terms of appearance, it looks similar to the Xperia S, which will be good for interested consumers looking for a visually appealing smartphone with mid-range specs that won’t break the bank.
