Obtaining exclusive deals is crucial for Netflix to stay on top. This is especially true since Verizon and Redbox are launching a competing service this year. One of Netflix’s newest agreements is with The Weinstein Company. The two companies have agreed to enter into a multi-year agreement that will bring video content from The Weinstein Company to Netflix exclusively.

The Weinstein Company won’t be creating content for Netflix. It’ll just be making sure Netflix gets access to its documentaries, foreign films and other video content before other services including cable. Netflix streaming customers will get The Weinstein Company’s offerings within one year of their initial release in theaters.

Be on the lookout for films such as The Artist, Undefeated and Sarah’s Key in 2012.
