Twitter mobile apps for Android and iPhone updated with new, old features

Twitter just made a huge update on both its iPhone and Android apps. While some of the updated features are entirely new, some of which were features of the previous Tweetie app which was bought by Twitter and transformed into the mobile app which is being updated right now.  New features for both Android and iPhone apps are swipe shortcut and find friends. Swipe shortcut lets you swipe a tweet in your home timeline to reply to, retweet, favorite or share. It also lets you view the Twitter user’s profile without leaving your own Twitter timeline. Find friends on the other hand lets you find which of your friends are on Twitter if they have chosen to become discoverable by email or phone number. Twitter mobile apps added a confirmation alert which when you select “Find Friends.”

New features that were brought back for the iPhone version are copy and paste for text of tweets and user profiles and link love which now lets you see the option to tweet, copy or mail links shared to you via tweets. You can also opt to save the link to read it later. Additionally, the iPhone Twitter app also redesigned Direct Messages interface including the ability to mark all DMs as read and the ability to change the font size under Advanced Settings.

Finally, aside from the mentioned two new features, the Twitter app now also supports other platforms including Kindle Fire, Nook Color and Nook Tablet.
