Coming out of Mobile World Congress, Samsung has officially announced their latest Galaxy branded portable media player — the Galaxy S Wi-Fi 4.2. This PMP arrives as an Android 2.3 Gingerbread running device and sporting features to include a 4.2 inch WVGA (480 x 800) IPS touchscreen and either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot that is capable of adding another 32GB of storage space.
Other features of the Galaxy S Wi-Fi 4.2 include a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 1500 mAh battery, VGA quality front-facing camera and a 2 megapixel rear-facing camera. You can also expect to find Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, gyroscope, accelerometer and a digital compass.
The Galaxy S Wi-Fi 4.2 measures in at 124.1 x 66.1 x 8.9mm, weighs in at 118 grams and will come with some pre-loaded software to include Need For Speed Hot Pursuit as well as the Google apps including the Android Market and the Samsung Apps such as the Social Hub, Readers Hub, Music Hub, Game Hub, All Share and ChatON.
That all being said, while Samsung was pretty forthcoming in terms of specs and details — they have yet to offer anything in terms of when this would be available, where it would be available and how much it will be selling for.
