First things first. Asus has re-branded its growing collection of tablets. They will no longer be referred to as Eee Pad Transformers. Instead, Asus is calling all of its tablets Transformer Pads. There are also different tablets that use the Transformer Pad name. We have the Transformer Pad Prime, the Transformer Pad Infinity series and the Transformer Pad 300 series. Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s talk about the Transformer Pad 300.
The Transformer Pad 300 will be the cheapest tablet Asus will sell. They will cost $399 and come in three colors – red, white and blue. To get to this lower price, Asus has made some sacrifices to the Transformer Pad 300’s body and screen resolution. The Transformer Pad 300 is made from plastic and has a 10.1-inch IPS display. By comparison, the Transformer Pad Infinity has a Super IPS+ display.
Other than that, the overall specs seem pretty good. The Transformer Pad 300 has a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 16GB of internal storage 1GB of RAM and ships with Android 4.0. Asus will also sell a keyboard dock attachment which will extend the Transformer Pad’s battery to around 15 hours. The attachment also has a USB port.
We’ll keep a lookout for a release date.
