Last December, Hasbro filed a lawsuit against Asus that claimed Asus infringed on its intellectual property by calling its tablet the Transformer Prime. Hasbro, which is responsible for the line of Transformer toys, were hoping a judge would agree with that customers would mistake Transformer Prime tablets for official Transformer products. Unfortunately for Hasbro, the judge saw things differently.
According to paidContent, the judge in the case didn’t think the Transformer Prime would negatively impact Hasbro’s Transformer products.
“There is nothing gimmicky about the Eee Pad Transformer or the Eee Pad Transformer Prime, nor can it be said that there is any similarity in the use or function between Hasbro and Asus’s
products,” the judge said.
The judge also pointed out that the Transformers Prime animated series is widely known and has been nominated for and awarded Daytime Emmy awards since its debut in 2010, well before the release of the Transformer Prime.
