When Sparrow was released recently, we’ve read so many great reviews about this alternative mail app for iPhone. But there was also one major gripe about the app and that is the lack of push notifications which is essential for mobile mail apps. So now, Sparrow has just been updated to version 1.1. And while there are many new features as well as bug fixes to the app, unfortunately there’s still no push notifications. The folks at Sparrow said that they are still having problems with Apple’s Push API and in fact, the said feature was included when they submitted the update to the App Store. Well, it looks like the plan did not materialize yet since the update is now available sans push. Hopefully, Sparrow will find out a way to carry out this feature with or without using Apple’s Push API. Anyway, the updated Sparrow 1.1 brings in the following new features into the fold:

  • Built-in web browser
  • Send & archive
  • Empty trash
  • Empty spam
  • Dock badge preferences by account
  • Show/hide labels and folders
  • Choice to include attachments when forwarding messages

Sparrow 1.1 is available now from the App Store for $2.99.
