We just received a word from Spotify informing us that the Spotify Play Button a web widget that lets you play any song, album or playlist in Spotify through your website instantly and of course legally and free. To kickstart this gig, Spotify has teamed up with popular websites such as The Huffington Post, ELLE, Entertainment Weekly and more. Even Tumblr is jumping into the Spotify bandwagon by fully integrating the Play Button into the Tumblr dashboard. If you have a Tumblr account, you can just type in a song or album and Tumblr will create the widget that you can include in your blog’s theme. To install the Spotify Play Button on your website, you simply grab any song, album or playlist URI from within Spotify and go to the Spotify developer website to get the embed link that you can use on your website or blog. The developer website has the Spotify Play Button generator that makes it easy for you to generate the embed code. Once installed on your site, anyone who’s new to Spotify will be prompted to set up the Spotify desktop app which will power the button in the background. This allows your site visitors to enjoy your music without leaving your site.
